East Contra Costa (Highway 4)

  • Brentwood: My home base, with guides to 27 Brentwood neighborhoods.
  • Antioch: Established neighborhoods and newer communities in the south of the city.
  • Oakley: Newer subdivisions, Delta access and a growing downtown.
  • Discovery Bay: Waterfront homes with private docks on the Delta.
  • Pittsburg: A waterfront downtown, BART access and hillside neighborhoods, including the San Marco master-planned area.

Central Contra Costa

  • Concord: The county's largest city, with BART and a wide range of homes.
  • Clayton: A small town at the foot of Mount Diablo.
  • Pleasant Hill: Central location between Concord and Walnut Creek.
  • Walnut Creek: Downtown shopping and dining, BART, and Rossmoor.

Lamorinda, the San Ramon Valley and the Tri-Valley (I-680)

  • Orinda: Wooded hillside lots, private roads and its own BART station.
  • Lafayette: Hillside homes, a walkable downtown and BART.
  • Danville: A historic downtown and established luxury neighborhoods.
  • Alamo: Unincorporated, with larger lots between Walnut Creek and Danville.
  • San Ramon: Bishop Ranch and the Dougherty Valley communities.
  • Dublin: Where I-580 meets I-680, with two BART stations.

San Joaquin County

  • Tracy: More home for the money, with the ACE train and I-205 over the Altamont.
  • Mountain House: A master-planned community that became a city in 2024.
